Ukraine won two medals on the final day of the 2026 Paralympics

On the final, ninth day of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, Ukrainian athletes added two more medals to their tally.

In the 20 km freestyle cross-country skiing event, the Ukrainians won two medals:

  • Oleksandr Kazik won silver in the men’s visually impaired category;

  • Oleksandra Kononova won a bronze medal in the women’s standing class race.

In the 20 km freestyle race (men, sitting class):

  • Pavlo Bal — 4th place

  • Hryhorii Shymko — 9th

  • Oleksandr Aleksyk — 12th

  • Vasyl Kravchuk — did not start

In the para-alpine skiing slalom (men, standing class), Maksym Helyuta fell during the first run and withdrew from the race.

In the 20 km cross-country skiing race (women, standing class):

  • Lyudmyla Lyashenko — 4th place

  • Iryna Buy — 5th

  • Bogdana Konashuk — 9th

In the 20 km race (men, standing class):

  • Serafim Dragun — 5th place

  • Dmytro Sereda — 15th

  • Serhiy Romanyuk — did not start

In the women’s visually impaired competition:

  • Oksana Shishkova — 6th place

  • Romana Lobasheva — 7th

Following the conclusion of the competitions, Ukraine ranks seventh in the medal table at the 2026 Paralympics. The team has secured 19 medals: three gold, eight silver and eight bronze.

Ukraine is represented at these Games by a record-breaking squad of 35 athletes, including 25 Paralympians and 10 guide athletes.

At the same time, the Ukrainian delegation has decided to boycott the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympics after the International Paralympic Committee allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete wearing national symbols.
