Ukrainians will be allowed to combine several working arrangements – Tretyakova
Labour Code
The new Labour Code may allow Ukrainians to hold several types of employment contracts at the same time and to set their own, more flexible working hours.

This was stated by Galina Tretyakova, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and the Protection of Veterans’ Rights, during the forum ‘The Labour Market for the Economy of the Future’.

According to her, the document takes into account radical changes in the labour market – the development of remote working, outsourcing, outstaffing and project-based employment.

“Up to 30% of Ukrainians work remotely. Project management, outstaffing and outsourcing are developing – types of employment relationships that were not even included in the Labour Code five or six years ago,” said Tretyakova.

She explained that the new code provides for nine types of employment contracts, which employees will be able to combine according to their own needs.

“Ukrainians can organise their working hours as they see fit – taking into account the challenges of war, emergencies or IDP status,” the MP noted.

Tretyakova also stated that Ukraine is transitioning from an industrial to a post-industrial model of labour relations, and the current Labour Code no longer corresponds to these changes.

“For Ukraine to become an economic tiger in Europe, we need to create a new framework for wage growth and non-discrimination in new labour relations,” she emphasised.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that Ukraine’s new Labour Code is entering the stage of detailed refinement in parliament. The government views the reform as a key element of a broader transformation of the labour market – with a focus on legalising employment, flexible working arrangements and alignment with EU standards.
