Ukrainian forces have struck the Russian electronic warfare station ‘Zhitiel’ in the Zaporizhzhia region
Operators from the 413th Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, ‘Reid’, have struck a Russian R-330Zh ‘Zhitiel’ electronic warfare station. The regiment reported this and released a video of the incident.
The target was detected near the village of Balochky in the Zaporizhzhia region, approximately 30 km from the front line. The strike hit the station’s antenna, rendering the entire complex inoperable.
The R-330Zh ‘Zhitiel’ is an electronic warfare station designed to intercept and jam the communication channels of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles at ranges of up to 25 km, and control channels at ranges of up to 50 km.
The estimated cost of such a station is around $10 million. Restoring the system requires complex electronics and could take at least several months.
The destruction of the R-330Zh ‘Zhitiel’ opens up opportunities for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to make further use of drones.
