The government has updated the procedure for payments to the families of fallen soldiers

The updated rules will apply to all units of the Defense Forces.
Assistance to the families of fallen servicemen will be provided in cases officially confirmed by a death record starting from September 1, 2025. If the death was confirmed before this date, the procedure and timing of payments to the family members of the deceased remain unchanged.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the new procedure provides for the following conditions:
- The total amount of one-time monetary assistance remains 15 million UAH;
- An immediate payment of 1/5 of the total ODA amount — that is, 3 million UAH — must be made;
- The remaining 4/5 of the amount, that is, 12 million UAH, should be transferred to the accounts of the families of the deceased in stages over 80 months according to a fixed schedule — 150 thousand UAH monthly.
Previously, the government approved a payment of 15 million UAH to the families of Ukrainian soldiers who died in captivity. The deadline for applying for one-time monetary assistance for military personnel who were injured or lost their ability to work has also been extended — now it is up to one year after obtaining the status.
