Law enforcement officers and doctors confirmed the death of Andriy Portnov from gunshot wounds.

An unknown shooter or shooters shot and killed former Ukrainian politician Andriy Portnov on Wednesday morning near the gates of an American school in the affluent district of Pozuelo, Madrid, according to a source close to the investigation. This is reported by thepublic.info citing Reuters.

The police received a call about the shooting at 9:15 a.m. (07:15 GMT), Madrid police told the agency, without revealing the name of the deceased.

After the arrival of law enforcement and medical personnel, it was confirmed that Andriy Portnov died from multiple gunshot wounds. He was shot four times in the chest area and once in the head.

Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported that the man was taking his children to school when he was shot.
