In Ukraine, there is a shortage of natural gas, the authorities have found half of the necessary reserves, - Zelensky
The head of state reports that due to Russian attacks in Ukraine, significant losses have occurred in gas storage and extraction capabilities.
"We have a deficit, I don't want to specify the amount now, but it is enough to be a large sum. We are experiencing this because there were massive attacks on gas storage facilities and also on gas extraction infrastructure. And this has been ongoing since autumn last year," - said Zelensky.
Also, Zelensky announced that together with the Minister of Energy, they will look for ways to cover the deficit in case Ukraine cannot supply gas to the population. He also reported that Ukraine received a positive signal regarding gas from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. "But we agreed with the Minister of Energy that we will look for ways to close this deficit, which may occur if not everything is restored, if we cannot fully supply gas to our population. We have found half, and we are missing the other half. I'll say this, about €1 billion. We are talking about the volume I discussed with the Norwegian Prime Minister," - Zelensky stated.
