During his visit to China, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefu will express Berlin's position on Ukraine and support for peace talks and pressure on Russia.

The German Foreign Minister travelled to Beijing (8–9 December) with an important diplomatic message regarding the war in Ukraine. This was reported by The Public with reference to the German Federal Foreign Office.

It is expected that Wadefuul will raise the issue of the need to involve China in helping to end Russian aggression against Ukraine in talks with Chinese officials. He also does not rule out that even during the negotiations, compromises will have to be sought, but the final decision must belong to Ukrainian society.

This visit comes amid Berlin's active diplomatic campaign to maintain pressure on Russia and consolidate international support for Ukraine. At the same time, Vadelfoul has previously emphasised that any concessions must be carefully considered, with security guarantees and without loss of sovereignty for Ukraine.

Given the heightened interest in China's role in global geopolitical games, Vadeful's visit could be an important test for the balance between Western unity and Chinese neutrality in the war against Ukraine.
