The High Specialised Court confirmed Dolzhenkov's acquittal: he declared victory
This was announced by Oleksandr Dolzhenkov.
Former MP Oleksandr Dolzhenkov declared victory after the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld his acquittal.
The case concerns the alleged illegal receipt of compensation for renting accommodation in Kyiv in the amount of UAH 700,280.
As Dolzhenkov himself recalled, NABU and SAP repeatedly informed him of their suspicions in this case. According to the investigation, from April 2015 to December 2018, he illegally received compensation from the budget of the Verkhovna Rada for renting accommodation, which was allocated to MPs who did not have their own accommodation in the capital.
The investigation believed that the deputy concealed the existence of his own apartment in Pechersk and illegally received 700,280 hryvnias on his card over almost two and a half years.
The case file also noted that only after the publication of a journalistic investigation by the Schemes programme did the deputy refuse to receive these payments.
The court of first instance handed down an acquittal in this case on 28 February 2025. The court concluded that Dolzhenkov's actions did not constitute a criminal offence.
On 9 March 2026, the appellate court left this decision unchanged.
After that, Dolzhenkov published a post in which he stated that he could speak of a victory, which, in his words, came "at the cost of enormous effort, hard work and immersion in the specifics of the criminal process."
He also noted that until recently, criminal proceedings had not been his area of expertise.
According to Dolzhenkov, the price of this struggle was more than three years of illegal criminal prosecution by NABU and SAPO, harassment and abuse.
Among other things, he mentioned what he considered to be illegal seizures of property, the issuance of two notices of suspicion, an attempt to keep him in custody, and unfounded discrediting in the media.
In his post, he also stated that there was a negative trend of "labelling" even before the case was heard on its merits.
Separately, the former MP stressed that, in his opinion, it is necessary to "dispel the presumption of infallibility of the pre-trial investigation bodies."
Dolzhenkov thanked the court for its impartial consideration of the case, its balanced analysis of all the evidence, its well-founded decisions and his rehabilitation.
He also expressed his gratitude to everyone who stood by him during this period and supported him.
At the end of his post, he stated that justice will prevail in any case.
