Easter of the Unbreakable: A Message from Volodymyr and Olena Zelenskyy to the Ukrainian People
A message from the President and the First Lady
Today, 12 April, Ukraine celebrates Easter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska have addressed the Ukrainian people with words of support and faith in the inevitable victory of light over darkness

Light that conquers the cold

Volodymyr and Olena Zelenskyy noted that it was the inner strength of Ukrainians that became the light which helped the nation endure the darkest of times. “This light within our people gives us the strength to stand together as one big family. And it is precisely in this way — together — that we have overcome this winter,” the couple emphasised. They noted that despite all the enemy’s attempts to intimidate us, spring has finally arrived, and “the cold has retreated ingloriously”.

Traditions as armour

The First Lady emphasised the importance of preserving national identity through family traditions. Even to the sound of sirens, Ukrainians continue to bake Easter cakes, gather baskets and decorate their homes. This proves that life must flourish despite everything. “This day is always about family, about the warmth of one’s own home, about the laughter of children within it,” the Zelenskys emphasised.

The dream of a peaceful Easter

Concluding their message, Volodymyr and Olena expressed a wish shared by the entire nation: that the fifth Easter during wartime would finally be followed by the first peaceful Easter. When the festive bells are not interrupted by the sounds of air raid sirens, and all loved ones can finally gather safely around one table.

“Christ is Risen! Ukraine will rise again!” — with these words, the President concluded his message, inspiring millions of people to continue the fight and to believe in a better future.
