Verkhovna Rada extends martial law in Ukraine
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on approving the Decree of the President of Ukraine on the extension of the martial law. The relevant draft law is registered under No. 14366.
The law approves the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 12 January 2026 No. 40/2026 «On Extension of the Martial Law in Ukraine». The document introduces partial amendments to Article 1 of Decree No. 64/2022 dated 24 February 2022 & laquo;On the introduction of martial law in Ukraine& raquo;, which was approved by Law of Ukraine No. 2102-IX.
According to the decision, the term of martial law in Ukraine has been extended from 05:30 on 3 February 2026 for another 90 days.
Martial law was introduced in Ukraine on 24 February 2022 in connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and has been repeatedly extended for reasons of national security and defence since then.
