Vitali Klitschko is being asked to give a public account to the community: a petition
A corresponding online petition has been registered on the Kyiv City Council website.
“In accordance with Part 1 of Article 75 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Local Self-Government in Ukraine’, local self-government bodies and officials are accountable, subject to oversight and responsible to local communities,” emphasises the author of the petition, Andriy Borovyk, Executive Director of Transparency International Ukraine.
The last public report in Kyiv took place in December 2021. Since then, there have been no open meetings with residents, whilst the number of questions for the city authorities has increased.
What the petition demands:
- the holding of an open reporting session at a meeting with the community;
- the timely publication of the announcement and the text of the report;
- the collection and consideration of questions from Kyiv residents prior to the event;
- the opportunity to ask questions during the meeting;
- an online broadcast and inclusive conditions for participation.
