Weather in Ukraine on 21 July 2026: where thunderstorms and squalls are forecast
A Level I hazard warning has been issued in most of the central and southern regions, as well as in the Kharkiv region.
On Tuesday, 21 July, parts of Ukraine will experience rain and thunderstorms, whilst hail and squalls of up to 20 m/s are expected in some areas. A yellow alert has been issued for most of the central and southern regions, as well as the Kharkiv region.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.

Where will it rain on 21 July?

Variable cloud cover is forecast across Ukraine. Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in the central and southern regions, as well as in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

During the day, rainfall may be heavy in some areas. Hail is possible during thunderstorms, and wind gusts will reach 15–20 m/s.

No significant rainfall is forecast for the rest of the country.

Where a yellow danger level has been declared

A Level I hazard warning has been issued for most of the central and southern regions, as well as in the Kharkiv region.

According to a warning from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, thunderstorms, hail and squalls may pose a danger to the public, infrastructure and the environment.

Weather conditions may disrupt the operations of energy, construction and utility companies. Road conditions may also deteriorate due to heavy rainfall, gusty winds and reduced visibility.

What will the temperature be like in Ukraine?

In the south and east of the country, temperatures are forecast to range from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius overnight. During the day, temperatures will rise to 28–33 degrees.

In most other regions, temperatures are expected to be 13–18 degrees at night and 23–28 degrees during the day.

It will be coolest in the west of Ukraine, where daytime temperatures will range from 20 to 25 degrees.

The wind will be predominantly northerly throughout the day, with speeds of 5–10 m/s. In the western and northern regions, westerly winds of the same speed are forecast.

Weather in Kyiv on 21 July

In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, partly cloudy skies with no precipitation are expected on 21 July. The wind will be westerly at a speed of 5–10 m/s.

In the Kyiv region, temperatures are forecast to be 13–18 degrees at night and 23–28 degrees during the day.

In the capital, the temperature at night will be 16–18 degrees, whilst during the day it will warm up to 25–27 degrees.

How to stay safe during bad weather

During a thunderstorm, you should avoid staying near trees, advertising structures, power lines and unsecured objects. Motorists are advised to reduce their speed, increase the distance between vehicles and avoid flooded sections of road.

Due to the risk of squalls, you should close your windows, remove any items from balconies and avoid parking vehicles under trees. Residents in areas under a yellow warning are advised to keep an eye on updates to the official forecast.

What will the weather be like in the coming days?

On 22 July, rain and thunderstorms are forecast mainly in the southern and eastern regions. During the day, hail and squalls of up to 20 m/s are also possible in some areas.

On 23 July, rainfall will continue in the south-east and east of the country. Elsewhere, the weather will be mainly dry.

Between 22 and 23 July, temperatures in Ukraine will drop by 3–5 degrees. Night-time temperatures are expected to range from 10 to 18 degrees, whilst daytime temperatures will mostly be between 23 and 28 degrees.
