What will happen to the energy sector after the war: the Minister for Economic Development has provided an explanation
This was stated by Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“Once the war ends, we will rebuild faster than we are now,” he noted.
At the same time, Ukraine needs to continue developing new power generation capacity.
"There is a correlation of almost 90% between increased energy production and GDP growth. In other words, they are practically one and the same. That is why we need to develop additional power generation capacity," said the minister.
To increase generation, he noted, the government has already simplified the procedures for connecting to the grid and rezoning land for the construction of new capacity.
“We need to build a lot of generation capacity, and this is regardless of when the war ends. We understand that if the war ends, the risks will be significantly reduced and there will be more such projects, especially in wind power. We need all forms of generation, including new nuclear power, for the economy to grow,” added Sobolev.
As a reminder, ThePublic previously wrote about how wind energy benefits Ukraine during the war.
