Where are there power cuts, and why? Energy officials have issued an important statement to Ukrainians
Enemy attacks have left parts of five regions without electricity
Russian forces have carried out missile and drone strikes on energy infrastructure. As of the morning of 26 June, there are power cuts in five regions of Ukraine.

This has been reported by "Ukrenergo".

Power cuts on 26 June

According to the company, as a result of Russian strikes, new power cuts have been recorded in:

  • Poltava region;
  • Kharkiv Oblast;
  • Kherson region;
  • Zaporizhzhia Oblast;
  • Dnipropetrovsk region.

“Where safety conditions currently permit, emergency repair work has already begun,” the statement said.

The situation in the power system

Ukrenergo reported that as of 09:30 on 26 June, electricity consumption was in line with seasonal figures and remained the same as the previous day.

Yesterday, the daily peak was recorded in the evening – 1.9 per cent higher than on Wednesday. This was due to the hot weather and widespread use of air conditioning.

Ukrainians have been urged to save electricity

“Ukrenergo” is asking people to shift their peak electricity consumption to the period between 10:00 and 16:00 – when industrial solar power stations operate most efficiently.

“Please use electricity sparingly in the evening – from 18:00 to 22:00. Do not switch on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time during this period,” the statement reads.

As a reminder, the Russians attacked the Odesa region on the night of 26 June. The energy infrastructure came under attack, resulting in power supply issues in the town of Vylkove and some settlements in the Vylkove community.

Yesterday, emergency power cuts were introduced in some districts of Kyiv. This was due to technical problems with the power grid.

As a reminder, ThePublic previously reported on whether there would be power cuts due to the abnormal heatwave heading for Ukraine.

Rules for mobile operators are changing in Ukraine: what will happen to ‘unlimited’ plans?

In Ukraine, mobile operators are being required to explain the terms and conditions of ‘unlimited’ internet more clearly, whilst the number portability service will be temporarily suspended from 29 June to 1 July. For subscribers, this means two things: tariff terms and conditions should become clearer, and it will not be possible to switch operators whilst keeping the same number for a few days.
