Women in Ukraine earn less than men: in which sectors is the pay gap the widest?
Salaries for men and women in Ukraine
The average salary in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026 was 28,885 hryvnias. However, the figures for men and women differ significantly, with the gap exceeding 47% in certain sectors.

This has been reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

How much do men and women earn? 

According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, the average salary in Ukraine was 28,885 hryvnias.

At the same time:

  • men earned an average of 33,798 hryvnias per month;
  • women earned 24,791 hryvnias.

Women’s salaries amount to just 73% of men’s.

Where is the gap greatest

The most significant pay gap between men and women is found in three sectors:

  • arts, sport, entertainment and recreation – 47.1%;
  • financial and insurance activities – 38.7%;
  • information and telecommunications – 37.8%.

In all three cases, the gap favours men.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that the minimum wage in 2026 could rise to 11,183 UAH from July.
