A Kharkiv businessman has repaid 5 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes to the state budget

Detectives from the State Bureau of Investigation in the Poltava region have secured the recovery of over 5 million hryvnias for the state budget in a tax evasion case. According to the investigation, a businessman from the Kharkiv region, who is involved in the wholesale trade of clothing and footwear, failed to record some of his transactions in his accounts whilst fulfilling government contracts.

This was reported by the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.

Detectives from the Territorial Directorate of the Economic Security Bureau in Poltava region have secured the recovery of over 5 million hryvnias to the state budget.

The case concerns a businessman from the Kharkiv region who is involved in the wholesale trade of clothing and footwear.

According to the investigation, over a period of several months, the man fulfilled large-scale government contracts.

According to the investigation, he failed to record some of these transactions in his tax and financial reports.

As a result, the budget lost over 5 million hryvnias in value added tax.

The businessman was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – deliberate tax evasion.

During the pre-trial investigation, the losses incurred by the state were fully compensated.

The case was referred to court with a motion to exempt the suspect from criminal liability.

The Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the proceedings.

In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a court conviction.

As reported by ThePublic, the Economic Security Bureau is prepared to pay 100,000 UAH to the head of the innovation department
