Yaroslava Mahuchikh won gold at the third stage of the Diamond League
This was reported by the Diamond League on Facebook.
In the high jump in Rabat, Morocco, Ukraine was represented by two athletes — Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Yulia Levchenko. The latter cleared 1.91 m and finished fourth in the event.
It is noted that the medals were to be contested by Australia’s Eleanor Patterson, Serbia’s Angelina Topić and Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh. After clearing 1.94 m, Topić decided to finish the event with the ‘bronze’.
The Australian cleared 1.94 m to take ‘silver’, whilst Yaroslava Mahuchikh was the only athlete to clear 1.97 m in the competition. After her victory, the Ukrainian set the bar at 2.00 m and did not use her two attempts; she later raised it to 2.02 m, but was unable to clear that height either.
As a reminder, in April, Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the first stage of the Diamond League. On that occasion, she was also the only athlete to clear 1.97 m.
