Two members of a drug gang are to stand trial based on evidence provided by the National Police
The case involves two men aged 31 and 32, both from the Cherkasy region. According to the investigation, they organised the manufacture and distribution of the psychotropic substance alpha-PVP throughout Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) reports.
Production took place in a specially equipped laboratory. The finished product was sold through so-called ‘master classes’ and logistics companies.
One of the suspects ordered precursors and chemicals online and paid using cryptocurrency. He had previously been detained for a drug-related offence. The other acted as the ‘chemist’, was responsible for running the laboratory and manufacturing the psychotropic substances, and also organised the transport and sale of large consignments.
During the special operation, law enforcement officers seized over 10,000 litres of precursors and chemicals. These could have been used to produce over 8 million doses of mephedrone.
The pre-trial investigation into these two suspects has been completed. The indictment has been sent to the Smila City and District Court in Cherkasy region. The accused are in custody.
They are charged with the illegal production and sale of psychotropic substances, illegal transactions involving precursors, and the organisation of facilities for their manufacture. The maximum penalty is up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As a reminder, in May 2025, as part of the ‘Requiem’ special operation, law enforcement officers exposed an inter-regional criminal organisation comprising 67 members, which operated across 15 regions. During 232 searches, 19 drug laboratories and 17 warehouses were dismantled.
Law enforcement officers seized drugs, precursors, equipment, vehicles and cash. The total volume of seized substances is equivalent to over 17 million doses, and their value exceeds 2 billion hryvnias.
