The weapon used to kill Parubiy has not yet been found
On September 9, Radio Liberty reported that Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office Oleksiy Umantets.
«Currently, the search for weapons is ongoing. At this moment, people are working at the locations indicated by the suspect in the murder. He has not changed his testimony. He points to more than one place; the search continues. He does not specify the exact location where he did it (threw away the weapon – ed.), it is a section of forested area», – says Umantets.
Eight shells were found at the scene of the crime. Four hit the politician's body. On September 1, law enforcement officers in Khmelnytskyi region detained 52-year-old Lviv resident Mykhailo Stelniko. He confessed to the crime, citing revenge as the reason. Apparently, his son has been considered missing since 2023.
But the suspect's ex-wife stated that the son went to fight as a volunteer and did not communicate with his father, that they had a serious quarrel when the son decided to go defend Ukraine, and that the father was generally not interested in his son. Military comrades also reported that the son did not maintain a relationship with his father.
The suspect in Parubiy's murder has started talking. But his version does not convince everyone.
Law enforcement conducted a search of the apartment where the suspect lived.
«We conducted searches in all known locations where he was. He lived in one place where he stored his vehicle. There is a very large amount of information to process, including verifying all versions. The main ones are personal revenge, revenge or murder. I do not think that the victim had any personal relationship with the suspect that would form the basis for a version about personal relations», – says the deputy head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
During the search of the suspect's apartment, law enforcement found ammunition, military awards, two pyrotechnic devices, 50 shells, and 85 containers for plastic shells. An excerpt from legislative articles, flash drives, mobile phones, 33 orders and medals of the USSR and Ukraine, 25 badges, and metal stars were also seized.
