Zelensky announced support programmes with additional payments for pensioners and cashback on fuel
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced new support programmes for Ukrainians. These include special payments for pensioners and social assistance recipients, as well as support for people who are feeling the pressure due to the destabilisation of the fuel market.
The head of state announced this on Telegram.
"We have agreed with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Ministers Oleksiy Sobolev and Denys Ulyutin to prepare several support programmes for Ukrainians," Zelenskyy wrote.
According to him, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is to prepare a programme of special payments for Ukrainian pensioners and those groups of the population who receive social assistance for April.
"At least 13 million Ukrainians will receive this supplement, which will amount to 1,500 hryvnia. The funds should be received by people without any bureaucracy and will be automatically credited to those whose income level means that support is needed," the President said.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine are also to prepare a support programme for people who are under particular pressure due to the destabilisation of the fuel market as a result of the situation around Iran and the reduction in oil supplies to the world market.
According to Zelenskyy, the programme will apply to consumers of diesel, petrol and automotive gas in Ukraine and will operate through a cashback system, which will compensate for part of the fuel costs.
"I have instructed Yulia Svyrydenko to work out the details of the support programmes today and tomorrow and present them to the public," he added.
