Зеленський встановив в Україні День румунської мови
This is stated in Decree No. 235 of 12 March.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has established Romanian Language Day in Ukraine.
The corresponding decree No. 235 is dated 12 March.
According to the document, Romanian Language Day will be celebrated in Ukraine every year on 31 August.
The decree states that the decision was made with the aim of developing mutual understanding, mutual respect and cooperation in Ukrainian-Romanian relations.
The document also refers to the promotion of intercultural dialogue with the preservation and development of the linguistic and cultural identity of Ukrainian citizens.
The decree comes into force on the day of its publication.
On 12 March, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting Romania.
Against the backdrop of this decision, it is also recalled that in December 2025, the Verkhovna Rada excluded Russian and Moldovan from the list of languages requiring support and protection in accordance with the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.
This law provides that 18 languages, including Romanian, will be protected in Ukraine.
