Zelenskyy says Russia is preparing 2026 as a year of war
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that clear signals are coming from Moscow about preparations for 2026 as a year of continuation of the war. The head of state said this in his evening address.
According to Zelenskyy, these statements are addressed not only to Ukraine but also to international partners, primarily the United States. He emphasised that despite the talk of some politicians about Russia's desire to end the war, the Kremlin's real rhetoric and orders to the Russian army show the opposite.
The President emphasised that Russia will try to disrupt any diplomatic efforts, using formal negotiations and pressure around certain points of the documents to cover its intentions to destroy Ukraine and legalise the seizure of Ukrainian territories.
Zelensky also warned that the Kremlin's plans are not limited to Ukraine, as Russian rhetoric already includes statements about so-called historical lands in other European countries.
The Head of State stressed the need for real security, financial and political solutions, in particular on the use of frozen Russian assets, and called on partners to have the courage to see the truth and act accordingly.
