Floods and profiles: "Midas" suspects collected data on deputies, ministers, and detectives
During the meeting of the parliamentary committee on anti-corruption policy on November 25, NABU detectives disclosed new details in the "Midas" case.
As reported by ThePublic.info, this is stated in the official message from NABU: in the back office of the defendants, 527 references containing personal data of officials, journalists, and detectives involved in investigations in the energy sector and other high-profile cases were discovered.
The profiles contained addresses, passport details, and other confidential information. Among those listed in these references are:
-
15 NABU detectives, including Ruslan Magamedrasulov, Vitaliy Tebe kin, and Yevhen Tokarev — all three have already received suspicion notices;
-
16 Members of the Verkhovna Rada, including Anti-Corruption Committee members Anastasia Radina and Yaroslav Zheleznyak;
-
18 ministers and their deputies associated with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Justice;
-
9 SBU employees;
-
10 journalists covering anti-corruption topics — including Yuriy Nikolov and the late Oleksiy Shalaytskyi;
-
former leaders of "Ukrenergo" and "Naftogaz".
According to NABU detective Oleksandr Abakumov, some of these files were created on July 17 — just a few days before the attack on anti-corruption agencies.
Head of the bureau Semen Kryvonos emphasized that not all recordings from the so-called "Mindycha tapes" have been disclosed to avoid harming the investigation. During searches, law enforcement officers seized a significant number of digital storage devices, and, according to Kryvonos, the circle of suspects continues to expand.
NABU also reported that detectives learned about Timur Mindich's escape only after the fact — his movement was not monitored.
Additionally, the bureau is conducting over 10 criminal proceedings related to the construction of fortifications not only in Poltava region but also in Kharkiv and other regions.
Preconditions of the "Midas" case
On November 10–11, NABU released audio recordings related to a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector. According to the bureau, representatives of "Energoatom" demanded a 10–15% kickback from contractors for making payments and maintaining the supplier status. This scheme was called the "barrier" scheme.
During the investigation, five individuals were detained, and suspicion was announced for another seven. Among the defendants:
-
Timur Mindich — "Karlson", the alleged organizer of the scheme;
-
Ihor Myroniuk — "Rocket", former advisor to the Minister of Energy;
-
Dmytro Basov — "Tenor", an official of "Energoatom";
-
Oleksandr Tsukerman — "Sugarman";
-
Ihor Fursenko — "Ryoshik";
-
Lesya Ustymenko and Lyudmila Zorina — back-office employees.
Most of the suspects are in custody. A bail of 37 million hryvnias was paid for Zorina and Ustymenko, while sanctions were imposed on Mindich and Tsukerman.
The recordings also feature former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko — searches were conducted at his residence, and he was subsequently dismissed from his position. The government also supported the resignation of Svitlana Hrinchuk, who replaced him in office.
President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced a large-scale overhaul of energy sector management and an audit of state companies.
