The court sentenced Medinsky to 10 years for a textbook on ‘Russian history’

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has sentenced Volodymyr Medynskyi and Anatolii Torkunov to 10 years’ imprisonment each, with confiscation of their property. The case concerns a Russian textbook for Year 11 entitled ‘History. History of Russia. 1945 – the beginning of the 21st century’, which, according to the prosecution, justifies Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Detectives from the Economic Security Bureau and prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have uncovered a scheme to import alcohol into Ukraine under the guise of diplomatic cargo. According to the investigation, a group of six individuals imported well-known brands of alcohol worth over 4 million hryvnias without paying excise duty or other mandatory charges.
