A new public holiday is to be introduced in Ukraine — Unmanned Systems Day
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.
Unmanned Systems Day: what is known about the new public holiday
The draft presidential decree provides for the introduction of a new public holiday – Unmanned Systems Forces Day, to be celebrated on 11 June.
Svyrydenko noted that Ukraine became the first country in the world to establish the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the armed forces.
What are the UAS
The Unmanned Systems Forces are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine responsible for reconnaissance, planning and conducting operations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground-based robotic systems (GRS).
The unit operates both on the front line and deep behind enemy lines – at a distance of over a thousand kilometres from the front line.
“You are not only defeating the enemy, you are ensuring that the world sees this and believes in Ukraine,” wrote Svyrydenko.
