A new VOS-999 code has appeared in ‘Reserve+’: what does it mean?

In recent days, some users of the ‘Reserve+’ app have noticed a new code — VOS-999 — in their military registration documents. Lawyers explain that this is not linked to fines, being wanted by the authorities or the revocation of a deferment from mobilisation, but merely reflects the status of the military registration speciality.

This is reported by ‘Economic News’.

What does the code VOS-999 mean?

This code applies to citizens who are already registered for military service but have not previously completed conscript or contract service, have not studied at a military department and have not taken part in military training exercises.

In fact, this code merely indicates that, in the event of conscription, such a person will first undergo basic general military training. It does not confer any separate reservist status, even if the electronic document contains the entry ‘reserve soldier’. This is merely a technical representation of information within the military registration system.

Does the new code change a person’s status as a conscript?

According to lawyers, the appearance of VOS-999 does not create any new legal consequences for the citizen. It does not constitute grounds for issuing a summons, imposing a fine or placing the person on a wanted list.

Furthermore, the code does not affect any deferrals or exemptions that have already been granted. This mark may also be visible to those liable for military service who are making use of these mechanisms in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Defence also emphasises that, following the appearance of VOS-999, there is no need to contact the local recruitment centre separately or to submit any additional documents. The mark is for information purposes only and does not alter a person’s legal status.
