Oleksandr Zinchenko may not be at Ajax for much longer. According to FootballTransfers.com, the Amsterdam club is already having second thoughts about extending the Ukrainian’s contract and is considering Raphael Guerreiro as the leading candidate for the left-back position.

This is according to FootballTransfers.com.

The Ukrainian footballer joined Ajax on 1 February, but has only managed to play two matches since then. In total, he played for 21 minutes before suffering a knee injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Zinchenko’s current contract runs until the summer, and according to FootballTransfers.com, the Amsterdam club is already seriously questioning whether it is worth extending it.

An additional factor is that Ajax’s management is not satisfied with Owen Veindal’s performance. Against this backdrop, the club considers the signing of a new left-back to be inevitable.

Who are they considering as a replacement for Zinchenko?

Rafael Guerreiro is named as the preferred candidate. As the publication notes, the Portuguese player has already announced his departure from Bayern, so he will be available on a free transfer.

Ajax are counting on the 32-year-old Guerreiro to provide precisely the qualities they expected from Zinchenko. These include experience of playing at the highest level, leadership qualities, composure on the ball and versatility.

If the Amsterdam club manages to sign the Portuguese player, the Ukrainian’s chances of staying with the team, according to FootballTransfers.com, will become virtually nil.

As a reminder, on the night of 1 April, the final participants in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals were decided.
