Ani Lorak’s concerts in cities across the Far East have been cancelled in Russia following accusations that she allegedly supports the Ukrainian military.

This has been reported by UNIAN. Ukrainian media outlets have also published reports on the cancellation of concerts in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, citing statements from the organisers and documents from local authorities.

A series of concerts by singer Ani Lorak have been cancelled in Russia. These include performances in Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Khabarovsk as part of the ‘Aura’ show.

The artist herself stated on Instagram that she had been looking forward to meeting the audience, but the concerts would not take place “for reasons beyond her control”.

The concert agency organising the performances reported that the events had not been approved by local authorities. According to the organisers, they had fulfilled the necessary conditions but had not received permission to hold the concerts.

Why the concerts were cancelled

According to media reports, documents from the local authorities cite public outrage over Ani Lorak’s stance on the war in Ukraine as one of the reasons.

The complaints against the singer also mention her alleged participation in charity concerts for wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

The artist’s team have dismissed these allegations as untrue. The organisers stated that the cancellation of the performances was linked to the circulation of information which, in their view, does not correspond to reality.

What is known about the scandal surrounding Lorak

After the start of the full-scale war, Ani Lorak remained working in Russia and did not publicly condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Because of this, she is regularly referred to in Ukraine as a singer who betrayed her country, whilst in Russia she is periodically criticised over suspicions of disloyalty and alleged support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This is not the first time Lorak’s concerts have been cancelled due to such accusations. Back in 2023, her performances in Russia were already being cancelled due to speculation that she might donate the money she earned to support the Ukrainian army.

This time, her tour of cities in the Far East has been cancelled.
