Drag makeup artist Alexis Stone claimed that he was the one who appeared as Jim Carrey at the Cesar Awards ceremony on 26 February in France. This sparked heated discussions online about whether the actor could have actually been in disguise.

The discussion began after Jim Carrey appeared on stage at the 2026 ceremony, where he received an honorary award. Some viewers said that the actor looked "different" and "unrecognisable".

Alexis Stone later posted a photo on Instagram with the caption "Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris." The carousel of images also included a photo resembling a hyper-realistic mask with a dark wig and a set of teeth.

This sparked a wave of new speculation on social media. Some users took the statement as a provocative art joke, while others began discussing the possibility of using complex prosthetic makeup or even artificial intelligence to create the mask image.

At the same time, Stone showed himself in Paris without makeup on his stories, which further confused his followers.

Critics note that Stone usually posts detailed videos of his transformations on YouTube after high-profile transformations, but no such material has appeared yet.

During the ceremony, Jim Carrey spoke in French and demonstrated his characteristic facial expressions. Some viewers noted that such expressive facial movements are difficult to reproduce in a full mask.

Alexis Stone is known for his hyper-realistic celebrity transformations. He has previously created images of Glenn Close, Anna Wintour, Jack Nicholson, Lana Del Rey, Jocelyne Wildenstein and Donatella Versace.

There has been no official confirmation or denial from Jim Carrey yet.
