Apple unveils iPhone 17e: more memory, A19 and MagSafe

Apple has announced the iPhone 17e, the most affordable model in the iPhone 17 line. The smartphone features an A19 processor, a 48 MP camera, MagSafe, and 256 GB of storage, starting at $599.

This was reported in an official press release from Apple.

The iPhone 17e runs on the new A19 chip, built using 3nm technology. According to the company, the 6-core CPU is up to 2 times faster than the iPhone 11. The model is also equipped with a new C1X modem, which is up to 2 times faster than the C1 in the iPhone 16e and 30% more energy efficient than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro.

The smartphone has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED and Ceramic Shield 2 protection, which is three times more scratch-resistant than the previous generation. The body is made of aerospace-grade aluminium and has IP68 protection.

The camera is a 48 MP Fusion with 2x Telephoto optical quality support. It offers 4K video recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 fps, next-generation portrait mode and improved HDR.

The iPhone 17e supports MagSafe and wireless charging up to 15W (Qi2). Fast charging via USB-C allows you to charge the device to 50% in about 30 minutes.

Safety features include Emergency SOS via satellite, Messages via satellite, Roadside Assistance via satellite, and Crash Detection.

The model runs on iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence support (in beta for select languages).

Memory, price and launch date

The iPhone 17e is available in black, white and a new soft pink colour. The

starting version is 256 GB (twice as much as its predecessor) for £599.

Pre-orders open on 4 March, with sales starting on 11 March.

The smartphone will be available in more than 70 countries.
