At Brailiv station in the Vinnytsia region, there was a side-on collision between the ‘Intercity+’ train No. 715/716 (Kyiv–Przemyśl) and a diesel locomotive belonging to a private quarry

Details of the incident

According to preliminary data, the accident was caused by the driver of a private diesel locomotive, who drove through a red signal in front of a passenger train.

Consequences of the collision:

  • Casualties: none of the 576 passengers and railway staff were injured.

  • Replacement train: all passengers have already been transferred to another high-speed train.

  • Delay: the train is running approximately three hours late.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that railway staff are already coordinating with border guards to speed up customs procedures for passengers on the service as much as possible. The incident will not affect the timetable of other trains.
