Bridgerton Season 4: New Characters and Sensational Plot Twists
Lady Araminta Gunn, played by Harry Potter actress Katie Leung, appears in Bridgerton alongside her on-screen daughters, Posy and Rosamund Leigh.
Netflix has released the second part of the fourth season of Bridgerton. The plot centres on the story of Benedict Bridgerton, the arrival of a family from East Asia, and the development of a new romantic storyline, which has already sparked lively discussion among viewers.

The fourth season continues the series' tradition of focusing on a separate family member. This time, the main storyline is led by the second son, Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson. The bohemian hero, who previously avoided serious commitments, meets a mysterious woman in a silver dress at a masquerade ball. It later turns out that she is not a society lady, but a maid named Sophie Beck.

Sophie is played by Australian actress Yerin Ha. She admits that participating in the series was personally important to her: representing the East Asian community in a large-scale international project was something she had been striving for. The actress has previously said that she can relate to the challenges her character faces, in particular the feeling of "alienation" in a world where she does not seem to belong.

The appearance of a new family from East Asia — a first in the series' history — attracted particular attention from viewers. Lady Aramint Gan is played by Katie Leung, known for her role as Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films. She admits that she did not expect to be involved in such a large-scale international project again, but now sees it as the result of her many years of hard work.

Her on-screen daughter Posie Lee, played by Isabella Wei, also emphasises that it was a "special moment" for the actors to work in the luxurious Regency world, where there had previously been no representatives of their community. In her words, being part of this story is "a wonderful thing."

The series has previously been criticised for casting actors of different backgrounds that do not match the book's descriptions of the characters. Producer Shonda Rhimes has previously called such comments strange.

In addition to the story of Benedict and Sophie, fans are actively discussing the development of Francesca Bridgerton's storyline. In the third season, she married John Sterling, but after meeting his cousin Michaela, a new emotional connection arises between the characters. Netflix has confirmed that this romantic storyline will continue, which has caused quite a stir.

Actress Masali Badouza, who plays Michaela, notes that she is aware of the responsibility of the role, as the character is important to the queer community and expands the boundaries of representation in the popular series.

The fourth season once again combines romantic drama, social barriers and dramatic plot twists. The second part of the season is now available to watch on Netflix.
