The mixed relay in Finland brought the Ukrainian team its first medal in the continental championship.

The Ukrainian team won its first medal at the 2026 European Junior Biathlon Championships, held in Imatra, Finland. The Ukrainians finished third in the mixed relay, winning bronze medals.

The team consisted of Ksenia Prykhodko, Viktoria Khvostenko, Ivan Steblina and Oleksandr Bilanenko. Throughout the entire distance, the athletes did not enter any penalty loops, using a total of 11 additional cartridges.

The Swedish team won the race, with the Ukrainian team finishing 16.6 seconds behind. Second place went to the biathletes from Slovenia.

2026 European Junior Biathlon Championships. Mixed relay:

  1. Sweden — 1:07:40.3 (0 penalty loops + 6 extra cartridges)

  2. Slovenia — +10.2 (1+12)

  3. Ukraine — +16.6 (0+11)

  4. Czech Republic — +2:27.2 (1+14)

This medal was Ukraine's first in the last two years at the European Junior Biathlon Championships and its first since 2023 in the mixed relay.
