Budanov: Russia has agreed to accept security guarantees for Ukraine from the US
During the previous round of negotiations, Russian representatives stated their readiness to accept the security guarantees for Ukraine proposed by the United States. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in comments to journalists.
According to him, the Russian delegation directly stated that it agreed with the format of guarantees proposed by the American side.
"The Russians directly stated that they would be compelled to accept the proposals made by the United States and that they were prepared to do so. For Ukraine, these are our guarantees, and they will have to respect them," he said, summarising the position of the negotiators.
Budanov also reported on the progress made in creating a demilitarised zone. According to him, the parties have in fact agreed on the principles of the monitoring mechanism after the end of the war.
"It can be said that, in general, an understanding has been reached on how monitoring will work after the end of the war. There are no significant problems here — they were resolved during several meetings," he said.
At the same time, according to the head of the President's Office, the issue of territories remains at the stage of searching for compromise solutions.
