Power cut on 8 April
Power cuts have been reported in frontline areas and a number of other regions due to strong winds, whilst electricity consumption has risen as the weather has turned colder.

This has been reported by the press office of Ukrenergo.

Where safety conditions permit, emergency repair work is already underway, according to the energy company.

In addition, due to strong winds causing trees to fall onto power lines, more than 90 settlements in four regions – Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv – were completely or partially without power this morning. In each of these regions, regional power company specialists are working to repair the damage.

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption has risen. Today, 8 April, as of 9:30 am, consumption was 16% higher than at the same time the previous day.

“The reason for these changes is a cold snap across all regions. It is also due to cloudy weather throughout Ukraine, which reduces the efficiency of domestic solar power stations and leads to a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the main grid,” the company explained.

Yesterday, 7 April, the daily peak consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.9% higher than the previous day’s peak. The reason is a cold snap in most regions of Ukraine.

It is noted that, given the weather conditions on 8 April, there is a need for energy conservation throughout the day in all regions.

“Please limit your use of electrical appliances as much as possible between 17:00 and 22:00. Do not switch on several high-power appliances at the same time during this period,” urged the energy suppliers.
