The Ukrainian Red Cross has signed a trilateral agreement with its Finnish counterparts and the International Committee of the Red Cross to assist citizens who have become disabled as a result of the hostilities.

This has been reported by the press office of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The initiative focuses on ensuring equal rights for veterans, the wounded and displaced persons, providing them with the tools for self-fulfilment and active participation in society.

The Kharkiv region has been chosen as the first stage of the project’s implementation, where the need for inclusive solutions is critical due to constant shelling.

The initiative aims to:

  • improving access to inclusive services and creating barrier-free infrastructure;
  • the development of economic empowerment programmes to ensure the financial independence of those affected;
  • the launch of training courses for local professionals and the implementation of inclusive approaches;
  • building mutual support networks and strengthening the role of communities in the recovery process;
  • systematic data collection and analysis to advocate for change at the national level.

The aim of this collaboration is to build a model for the country’s recovery in which every person, regardless of physical limitations, has access to the necessary services and opportunities for a dignified life. This approach should form the foundation for the inclusive reconstruction of Ukrainian communities.
