Why autonomous heaters on balconies can become a deadly trap
Risks of using electric generators in residential buildings
Experts warn that the use of generators and autonomous heaters in residential buildings poses a direct threat to the lives of residents.

The use of autonomous diesel or gas heaters, as well as electric generators in residential buildings — particularly on balconies — poses a serious danger to people. Experts compare the risks posed by such devices to the threat from attack drones.

This was stated by Vadym Lytvyn, chairman of the board of the Association of Energy Auditors of Ukraine, on the KYIV24 television channel. According to him, the use of such equipment in unsuitable conditions can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning or cause a fire, which threatens not only apartment owners but also the residents of the entire building.

The expert stressed that the danger is often underestimated, although the consequences can be fatal. Particularly risky are cases of using homemade or untested devices, as well as gas burners, which are categorically not intended for use in residential premises.

Vadym Lytvyn urged citizens not to put themselves and their neighbours in danger, to use only certified heating and power supply devices, and to refrain from using so-called "homemade" methods, which can have tragic consequences.
