Russian propaganda tried to blame the serious accident on a Ukrainian soldier, but official police data completely refutes this.

Hostile Telegram channels spread false information about an allegedly fatal traffic accident in the Rivne region involving an active serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who, according to propagandists, hit a pedestrian and fled the scene.

The Centre for Countering Disinformation reported that these claims are untrue. According to official information from the Rivne police, the perpetrator of the accident is a 26-year-old civilian man. No military personnel were involved in the incident.

The Centre emphasises that such reports are deliberate manipulation. Their goal is to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, create a false impression in society about the alleged impunity of the military, and undermine trust in the Ukrainian army.
