Cuba has run out of diesel and fuel oil — protests have broken out on the streets of Havana
This is reported by the Financial Times.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Energy Minister Vicente de la O Levy claim that the crisis is caused by the US energy blockade of the island, which has been in place for four months. The minister also stated that some areas of Havana may be without power for 20–22 hours a day.
Amid the power cuts in Havana, people took to the streets, setting fire to barricades and protesting outside the government building.
People also banged on pots and pans and shouted: “Turn on the lights.”
According to Reuters, due to a fuel shortage in the capital, even the pumps at petrol stations are running dry.
