Twenty-five Ukrainian companies have already joined the ‘Private Air Defence’ project
In Ukraine, 25 companies from various regions have already joined the project to establish a private air defence system, which the Cabinet of Ministers launched in November 2025.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

“The pilot project to establish a private air defence force, which the Government launched in November 2025, is already yielding practical results. Twenty-five Ukrainian enterprises from various regions have already joined efforts to strengthen the country’s multi-layered air defence system,” she wrote on Telegram.

As Svyrydenko noted, these enterprises have received the relevant status from the Ministry of Defence and are currently in the process of forming their own air defence groups. Several such groups are already carrying out combat missions. To date, more than 10 enemy drones have been shot down, including Shahed and Zala.

“This is an example of how the state, the private sector and the military can work together to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure. At the same time, it provides an opportunity to scale up air defence capabilities without placing an additional burden on combat units,” Svyrydenko noted.

According to her, a clear procedure is in place for companies wishing to join the project: submitting an application to the Ministry of Defence, verifying the company’s compliance with specified criteria, forming a group, training personnel, and subsequent work in coordination with the Ukrainian Air Force. A simplified application process applies to critical enterprises – they are granted authorisation on a declarative basis.

Applications to participate in the pilot project can be sent to the Ministry of Defence’s email address: [email protected].

As a reminder, an experimental model for involving the private sector in air defence has been in operation in Ukraine since early April. One private company has carried out its first missions in the Kharkiv region and shot down several Russian drones, including Shahed and Zala models.

The Kremlin is seeking a way out of the war amid military and economic difficulties

Russia is facing mounting pressure due to the situation on the front line, economic problems and strikes by Ukrainian drones on its territory. European officials suggest that Moscow’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric may be linked to attempts to restart the negotiation process on its own terms.
