The ‘Affordable Medicines’ scheme has been expanded: a further 37 medicines have been added to the list
Medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and respiratory diseases have been added to the list.
The Ministry of Health has approved an updated list of medicines and medical devices eligible for reimbursement under the ‘Affordable Medicines’ programme. The relevant order will come into force on 31 March.

This has been reported by the Ministry of Health’s press office.

From April, the programme is being expanded: 37 new medicines in various dosages have been added to the list, including those for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and respiratory diseases.

In total, the updated list comprises 748 items, including:

  • 621 medicines;
  • 59 insulin preparations;
  • 32 combination medicines;
  • 36 types of medical devices, including test strips for glucose meters.

The Ministry of Health notes that the expansion of the programme is aimed at improving access to treatment for patients with chronic conditions. Funding for the ‘Affordable Medicines’ programme in 2026 has been increased by 1.8 billion UAH – to 8.7 billion UAH, compared to 6.9 billion UAH last year.

Since the start of 2026, over 1.5 million patients have already benefited from the programme, and the number of prescriptions dispensed has exceeded 3.5 million.

The programme allows patients to obtain essential medicines free of charge or with a partial co-payment via an electronic prescription. The state’s priority remains the treatment of cardiovascular diseases as the leading cause of mortality, as well as associated conditions, in particular diabetes and respiratory diseases.
