On the night of 26 June, drones launched a massive attack on a number of regions in Russia, as well as on occupied Crimea. The Russian authorities reported that air defence forces were deployed in several regions, including the Moscow Region and the Tula Region, according to DW.

Dmitry Milyaev, Governor of the Tula Oblast, stated that the region had come under a massive drone attack. He said that a private residential building had been damaged in the Shchokinsky District and that a woman had been injured.

Milyaev also said that damage to power lines and an industrial facility had been reported in Novomoskovsk. The name of the facility has not been officially specified.

According to a number of Telegram channels and media outlets, the ‘Azot’ chemical plant in Novomoskovsk may have been targeted. Smoke was seen rising from the plant following the attack. The plant produces ammonia, nitrogen fertilisers and other chemical products.

Moscow was also targeted last night. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, stated that air defence forces had allegedly shot down 47 drones as they approached the city. He did not provide any details regarding the consequences on the ground.

Following the attack, temporary restrictions on flight arrivals and departures were imposed at Moscow’s Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports. Restrictions were also in place at airports in Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Penza, Pskov, Ivanovo and Yaroslavl.

Explosions were also heard overnight in occupied Crimea. According to local sources, attacks were recorded in the Kerch area and at the ‘Saki’ military airfield.

Satellite monitoring data showed that fires had been detected near the small civil aviation airfield close to Kerch. According to local news channels, Russian air defence systems and radar stations are stationed there.
