Drones attacked an oil terminal in Fujairah: a fire broke out at the UAE port
An attack by drones on oil infrastructure took place at the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), resulting in a fire breaking out within the terminal.
According to the publication Turkiye Today, Iranian drones attacked oil storage facilities located in the port. Following the strike, a fire broke out at one of the sites.
Emergency and rescue services arrived promptly at the scene and began work to extinguish the fire. The fire has now been put out, and the authorities are assessing the extent of the damage to the infrastructure.
Following the incident, some oil loading operations at the port of Fujairah have been temporarily suspended.
The escalation of the situation in the Middle East has already affected global energy markets. Due to the conflict in the region and the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices have begun to rise sharply.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the war in the Middle East has caused the largest disruption to oil supplies in history.
Against this backdrop, on 13 March, the United States Department of the Treasury decided to temporarily ease oil sanctions against Russia. For a period of 30 days, the export of oil and petroleum products that have already been loaded onto vessels is permitted.
US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is prepared to provide an escort for ships through the Strait of Hormuz should the need arise.
