Anthony Joshua visited Kyiv for the first time at the invitation of Oleksandr Usyk
Oleksandr Usyk spoke about the visit to Ukraine by British boxer Anthony Joshua, whom he has faced twice in the ring. According to the Ukrainian champion, this is the Briton’s first trip to Ukraine.
During the visit, Usyk showed Joshua around Kyiv, gave him a tour of the city and introduced him to the country’s culture. The British boxer also sampled some Ukrainian national dishes.
Joshua is expected to attend a boxing event organised by Usyk’s promotional company on 21 March. One of the main events of the evening is set to be the professional debut of Paris Olympic champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak.
In his first professional bout, Khizhnyak is set to face Colombian boxer Wilmer Baron.
Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua have already fought each other twice. On both occasions, the Ukrainian won by judges’ decision after 12 rounds.
The article also notes that Joshua currently holds no championship belts. It is separately noted that he may have ended his career following a car accident in Nigeria in which two of his trainers were killed.
