Gazprom has reported a drone attack on a compressor station on the Blue Stream gas pipeline
The Russian company Gazprom has stated that on the evening of 7 July, drones attacked the ‘Krasnodarskaya’ compressor station in the Krasnodar Krai, which forms part of the natural gas supply system to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline.
The company’s statement notes that the alleged aim of the attack was to disrupt the uninterrupted supply of Russian gas to Turkey. According to Gazprom, disruptions to gas transmission were avoided, and work is ongoing at the station to repair the damage.
The previous evening, a number of Telegram channels reported an attack on the ‘Krasnodarskaya’ compressor station, located near the village of Smolensk in the Krasnodar Krai.
The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters stated at the time that debris from a drone had fallen in the village of Smolensk in the Seversky District, causing a fire on the premises of one of the enterprises. The report did not specify which enterprise had been affected.
The report also notes that other Gazprom facilities in southern Russia have been regularly targeted in recent months. In particular, there have been reports of attacks on the ‘Ruska’, ‘Beregova’ and ‘Kozacha’ compressor stations, which support the operation of the ‘Turkish Stream’ and ‘Blue Stream’ gas pipelines.
