Shooting in a car park in Kyiv
A man has been arrested in Kyiv after firing a shotgun in the car park of a residential block and seriously injuring a passer-by on the street.

This was reported by the police.

Law enforcement officers received a report that a woman with a gunshot wound to the abdomen was lying on the ground on one of the streets in the Pecherskyi district.

An investigative team and paramedics arrived immediately at the scene and hospitalised the 58-year-old victim, who was in a critical condition.

To establish the circumstances of the incident, experts analysed CCTV footage and carried out ballistic examinations.

As a result, the shooter was identified as a local resident.

In the car park of a residential building, the man took a pump-action shotgun from his car and, whilst attempting to fix a malfunction, fired a shot towards the car park’s metal roller shutter.

One of the pellets from the cartridge pierced the shutter and struck a woman in the abdomen who was passing by at the time.

Doctors diagnosed the victim with a penetrating abdominal wound, causing damage to internal organs and internal bleeding. The woman is in a critical condition in hospital.

During a search of the shooter’s home, police seized several types of firearms and ammunition.

The suspect has been charged with “hooliganism involving the use of a firearm”. The offence carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment.
