In the US, two teenagers shot three people at a mosque and then took their own lives
This is according to reports by AP and Reuters.
The police stated that they had found evidence that the shooting was motivated by ‘hate speech’. Prior to the attack, the police were already searching for one of the teenagers, as his mother had called the police out of fear that he might commit suicide. He had taken her car and fled.
While questioning the mother, officers received a report of a shooting at a mosque. According to the investigation, two boys aged 17 and 18 shot security guard Amin Abdullah, who, as the police state, prevented further casualties.
The police found the shooters dead near the mosque. They are believed to have shot themselves in the car. San Diego Police Chief Scott Wall said that law enforcement agencies and the FBI are investigating the attack on the mosque as a hate crime.
The San Diego Islamic Centre is the largest mosque in the county, housing a school where Arabic, Islamic studies and the Quran are taught to people aged five and above.
US President Donald Trump described the shooting at the mosque as a “horrific situation”.
