Iran attacked American bases in the Persian Gulf countries — media reports of fatalities
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out attacks on American military bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain. This was reported by The Guardian, citing the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars.
The UAE Ministry of Defence said that the country's air defence systems intercepted several ballistic missiles launched from Iran. At the same time, a citizen of one of the Asian countries was killed after debris fell in a residential area of Abu Dhabi. Material damage was also reported.
The Emirati defence ministry called the attack a gross violation of national sovereignty and international law and stated that the UAE reserves the right to respond and take all necessary measures to protect its territory.
According to Sky News, Iran also struck a US military base in Bahrain. The TV channel released a video which, according to its claims, shows an Iranian missile hitting an American facility.
Reuters reports that a new wave of explosions was heard in the Qatari capital, Doha. In addition, several explosions were heard in Abu Dhabi near the city's main airport.
No official information about the consequences of the strikes in Kuwait and Qatar has been released at the time of publication.
