An Iranian MP has threatened Ukraine with military strikes over its alleged support for Israel
Iranian politician Ebrahim Azizi has claimed that Ukraine has allegedly become a party to the war in the Middle East after, according to him, providing Israel with support in the form of drones. He posted this statement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“By providing the Israeli regime with drone support, the failed state of Ukraine has effectively become a party to the war and, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, has turned its entire territory into a legitimate target for Iran,” Aziz wrote.
This refers to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which provides for a state’s right to self-defence in the event of an armed attack. At the same time, international law does not permit the automatic declaration of another country’s territory as a ‘legitimate target’ without appropriate legal grounds.
At present, there is no independent confirmation of the claim that Ukraine supplied drones to Israel to participate in the war against Iran.
Ebrahim Azizi is an Iranian politician and a member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis). He also chairs the Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, which deals with issues of defence, international relations and national security.
His statement came against the backdrop of an escalating conflict between Iran, the US and Israel, which unfolded in late February 2026 following a series of military strikes in the region.
Experts note that such statements by politicians during military conflicts are often of a political or propaganda nature and do not always reflect the state’s official position.
