Italy has sent Ukraine its first batch of energy aid to help overcome the consequences of Russia's attacks
Italy has sent Ukraine its first batch of aid to support the energy sector amid Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities. This was reported by ANSA, citing a statement from the office of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
According to the report, the first 78 industrial boilers have already been delivered to Ukraine. Another 300 units are planned to be delivered in the coming weeks. The total thermal capacity of this equipment will be approximately 900 megawatts. The boilers are intended to restore damaged urban heating networks, hospitals and key services.
The Italian government noted that this humanitarian initiative will provide heat to approximately 90,000 households or a city with a population of about 250,000 people. In addition, Italy has launched a programme to supply medium and large generators that will be used to support hospitals, water supply systems and other critical infrastructure in the event of power outages.
The assistance is being provided as part of the commitments made by Giorgia Meloni during her meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in October last year at the European Council meeting.
